Football seems to be even more popular among young people than cricket, Barbados’ traditional sport. Everywhere you go, you can see people having a kick-around – why not join in?
OK, so posting a letter while on holiday isn’t anything special, but what is special is where you’ll post it – in an authentic British red postbox set into the wall. These are found all around the island and will probably still be here even when they disappear from the UK.
St Nicholas Abbey isn’t an abbey, but it is a fine example of Jacobean style architecture. The film of Barbados at the turn of the 20th century is almost worth the price of admission, as is the 400 year old tree in the courtyard.
Not only does St. John’s Church boast great views of the east of the island, but it’s also where some of the oldest graves on the island are to be found (if you like that kind of thing).
